Economic Planning Secretary and NEDA Director-General Arsenio Balisacan (seated, right) and Canada’s Ambassador to the Philippines Neil Reeder (seated, left) endorsed the six-year women economic empowerment project called Supporting Women’s Economic Empowerment in the Philippines (SWEEP).

The Governments of the Philippines and Canada signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a PhP320-million bilateral project to improve economic development for women in the Philippines last November 27, at the NEDA Executive Lounge.

In partnership with the private sector, SWEEP aims to develop market-tested models that would enhance the productivity of women micro-entrepreneurs and increase their access to productive resources such as higher-value materials, technologies and markets.
