Background:
Pursuant to Section 6 of Republic Act No. 11293, or the Philippine Innovation Act, the NIC was established to develop the country’s innovation goals, priorities, and long-term national strategies. The law further provides that the Council shall be composed of 18 ex-officio members from the government and seven (7) EMs from the ranks of business, entrepreneurs, academe, and the scientific community, at least one (1) of whom shall be a woman, to be appointed by the President.
At present, the NIC has six (6) EMs. To complete this composition, the NIC is calling for nominations for the remaining seat.
Evaluation Criteria
The nominees will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Leadership and competence. Excellent innovation leadership capacity, commitment, and track record;
- Network. High level of influence and integrity in building and improving the sector’s innovation ecosystem;
- Recognition and awards. Exemplary achievements in innovation and excellence in the form of prizes and awards obtained at local, national and international levels; and
- Vision. Compelling vision and plan for innovation in the sector or country.
