Balisacan delivered the opening remarks at the Informing a Data Revolution (IDR) Workshop, which was jointly held by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and the Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century (Paris21) at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) Conference Center, Makati City.

In his message, Balisacan encouraged the participants to provide timely inputs for the drafting of data revolution roadmap for the Philippines. “This roadmap will serve as part of the presentation to the UN General Assembly in September next year where the Post-2015 development agenda is expected to be agreed and launched,” the Cabinet official said.

The workshop included a dialogue on the results and findings of Paris21’s in-depth study on the state of the Philippine Statistical System and the IDR progress report and survey results for countries worldwide. Paris21 consultant and former NSCB Secretary-General Romulo Virola presented the results of his in-depth study on the state of the Philippine Statistical System based on interviews with several stakeholders. Meanwhile, PSA head and National Statistician Dr. Lisa Grace Bersales, NEDA Assistant Director-General Rosemarie Edillon, and Pulse Asia Chief Research Fellow Ana Maria Tabunda were panelists of the first session. The consecutive sessions tackled Paris21’s IDR progress report on all countries as presented by Paris21 Consultant Mr. Trevor Fletcher.
