Following an earlier kick-off event in Dumaguete City in the Visayas, the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) is set to hold its second regional knowledge sharing and stakeholder consultation for AmBisyon Natin 2040 in Cagayan De Oro City.
“We want to create a sense of ownership for AmBisyon Natin 2040, by giving the Filipino people, especially the youth, the power to weave their wants, dreams and aspirations for the next 24 years into its fabric,” said NEDA Development Information Staff Director Nerrisa T. Esguerra. The consultation will be held today, June 20, 2016, within the Cagayan De Oro City campus of Xavier University.
In addition, a panel consisting of representatives from the youth sector, academe, agriculture and business sector will be given the avenue to give their inputs on the possible risks, reforms, programs and projects that needs to be considered, and what they can do to help achieve the vision.
“Through sharing and consulting we are not only listening to their dreams and aspirations but also to their strategies and solutions. We believe that a community knows the best way to solve its problem, we only need to enable them to solve it, partly by providing a broader perspective,” the NEDA official said.
Moreover, a workshop will be conducted to come up with a general alignment and agreement of the participants’ vision for their community and the country from the results of the survey.
A press conference with the local media paneled by representatives from the NEDA Regional Office X, NEDA Central Office, and KDC will be held in the afternoon.
The event is organized by NEDA in partnership with World Bank’s Knowledge for Development Community (KDC) as part of a series of activities that aims to communicate the long-term vision to the public, create a healthy discourse, and gather comments and insights on the results of the national survey to the regions. The last forum was held in Silliman University in Dumaguete City as part of the Visayas leg that includes Iloilo and Cebu. Other areas planned to be visited are Tuguegarao, Naga City, Palawan, Greater Manila Area for the Luzon leg.
AmBisyon Natin 2040 is the collective long-term vision and aspirations of the Filipino people for themselves and for the country in the next 24 years. It portrays the standard of life that they want to have by 2040 and aims to serve as an anchor for development planning and international development assistance across at least four administrations.
