Economic Planning Secretary and NEDA Director-General Arsenio M. Balisacan attended the press conference following the launch of the Fifth Philippine Progress Report on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the 2014 Human Development Report (HDR) last August 20 at the Crowne Plaza, Manila Galleria, Quezon City. With Sec. Balisacan in the photo are UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative Luiza Carvalho and Philippine Human Development Network (PHDN) President Emmanuel de Dios.
In his presentation, Sec. Balisacan emphasized that despite achievements in certain areas, much remains to be done to ensure that Filipinos, especially the poor and vulnerable, reach their highest potentials for human development. National Statistician Lisa Grace Bersales delivered the presentation in behalf of Sec. Balisacan, who had a meeting prior to the event.
The 2014 HDR is an editorially independent publication of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) while the Philippines’ Fifth Progress Report on the UN MDGs was prepared by NEDA, with the support of the UNDP.
